In the fall of 2019, an unexpected violent EF-3 tornado tore a 15 mile long and 3/4 mile wide path across Dallas, TX, leaving devastation and destruction in its wake. Homes and businesses alike were taken to the ground. Four of Dallas? oldest shopping centers were severely damaged at the intersection of Preston and Royal Roads.
The Preston Royal Center was home to a beautiful and iconic ceramic and neon sign. The storm pulled the pole from its foundation, damaged the ceramic panels, and ripped virtually every piece of neon from its face. Texas Electrical was afforded the privilege of restoring this beautiful 70 year old sign. The opportunity was brought to us by Gary Young?s DFW Hightech Signs on Mockingbird and professionally Managed by TE?s Account Executive, Alisa Petersen.
After almost 2 months of tedious meticulous work, the ceramic was restored, new panels were fabricated, all wiring and power supplies were updated, and every piece of neon was reproduced by Rick Countryman, owner of North Texas Neon, and installed by Texas Electrical neon technicians. Gary Simmons, Texas Electrical?s Master Sign Electrician, and his team performed masterful work to restore this iconic structure and returned it to its home at Preston and Royal.
We are proud to have been selected to work on such an iconic structure and especially proud of the completed project.
